Fitness – Why I Create Exercise Spotlight Posters

A healthy lifestyle includes a consistent exercise program. Working as a fitness professional, I see a lot of people who recognize the importance of exercise, try really hard, but are a little bit misguided in their efforts. I see people that could benefit from an occasional reassessment of what they do, why they do it, and how they do it. Exercise Spotlight Posters are meant to operate as teaching tools by providing visuals to examine exercise technique and helping to familiarize yourself with the language of fitness.

Providing Visuals

People learn in different ways and visuals can be a great way to portray effective exercise technique. Modern day phones can take remarkable pictures and videos, and a lot of neat things can be done on a computer.

Exercise Spotlight Posters are viewable in JPEG and PDF file format, with both formats offering high quality imaging. These images can be zoomed in many times over so that you can notice all of the small details of an exercise like foot placement, hip and shoulder position, and joint angles. Compare your exercise technique to what you see, and perhaps small adjustments will result in better technique and more effective exercise.

Familiarizing Yourself with the Language of Fitness

It is important to “have an idea” when you exercise. Too many people practice exercises they see someone else doing, follow a program they found online, or are following the advice of someone who told them that “they should do this or they should do that”.

Exercise programming is an incredibly individualized thing, so it is crucial that you familiarize yourself with the muscles you are trying to develop, the specific benefits of an exercise, and the appropriate way to cue your movements when you practice. This information is provided in any Exercise Spotlight Poster that I make and is meant to provide direction and help you determine the reasons for doing what you do. You are the director of your programming and you should be fluent in the language of fitness.

A big part of what I intend to do with PGWellness is educate and advise people on how to exercise safely and effectively, so I have created these teaching tools in the form of Exercise Spotlight Posters. The hope is that these posters will be received as study aids, providing you an opportunity to learn something new and explore alternative forms of exercise, ultimately picking and choosing what works best for you and your individual objectives.
